課程概述

This course is designed to overview contemporary theories of marriage and family therapy (MFT). Students are encouraged to critically evaluate and integrate the theories according to their own personal and professional backgrounds. 

課程目標
1. To develop scholarly curiosity about contemporary theories of marriage and family therapy (MFT)
2. To identify theoretical concepts and specific interventions of MFT theories
3. To compare and contrast among MFT theories
4. To converse clinical implications of MFT theories in a multidisciplinary context
5. To identify personal implications of MFT theories
 
課程要求
1. Punctuality and attendance are expected. Students are required to read all readings before class and to participate in class discussion.
2. Leading discussion & Reading club: Students take turn to lead discussion with guiding questions. Read “The family crucible c” (chap. 1-7, 8-14, 15-21) and “Family healing d” (chap. 1-5, 6-9, 10-13) in three periods and prepare to discuss the concepts and interventions used in the sections. Apply different theories to the same sections and compare the similarities and contrast the differences.
3. Video reflection: Watch one video before class and write a reflection (3-5 pages, single space). The reflection is due on the in class viewing date.
4. Term paper: Write a paper to illustrate personal and professional implications of selected MFT theories. This paper’s due date begins on May 12.
